Clean demand to rise
STRICTER emission regulations and rising auto ownership in China will lead to a "significant" rise in demand for clean air products, according to United States manufacturer Corning Inc.
Tighter regulations, such as the Euro IV-like standards adopted by Beijing and Shanghai, are driving the demand for emission control products such as substrate, which could help meet current and future needs, said Thomas Lynch, general manager of Corning Shanghai Co.
The company yesterday broke ground on a US$125 million expansion of its auto substrate facility in Shanghai. The expansion is expected to be operational in the second half of 2012.
