EVBuy opens second dealership for new energy vehicles

New energy car dealer EVBuy opened a second store in Shanghai today as demand for electric cars is expected to rise.

The company, by partnering with carmakers, accounted for more than 90 percent of new energy cars sold in Shanghai over the past three years. It sold more than 500 in 2013, according to Xu Weihan, EVBuy’s chief financial officer.

He declined to forecast sales for this year.

The new 1,000-square-meter facility allows customers to have a look at a dozen models including the Roewe E50 by Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp and the Sail Springo EV by Shanghai General Motors.

The new outlet is within the former Expo site in the Pudong New Area, much closer to downtown than its dealership in Anting, Jiading District. Customers can also test drive cars at a kart-racing track nearby.
