Japanese carmakers hit
JAPAN'S carmakers' sales fell in February after managing to recover from the Chinese consumer boycott of Japanese goods during the Diaoyu Islands dispute.
Nissan, whose exposure to the Chinese car market is the biggest, yesterday said its China sales in February, when the Lunar New Year holiday occurred, plunged 46 percent from a year earlier to 58,200 units. Honda said its China sales fell 27.1 percent to 32,024 vehicles last month while those of Mazda reversed 24.7 percent to 10,433 units. Toyota's China sales fell 45.7 percent to 36,300 units.
