Mercedes-Benz aims for right turn

Mercedes-Benz will tap Chinese tourists’ rising demand for overseas travel by teaming up with HHtravel, a luxury travel brand of Ctrip, to offer high-end travel services overseas.

The German company is the first global automaker to target Chinese for the high-end overseas travel business. It will be involved in designing tourism products, providing travel resources and organizing tours, while HHtravel will be in charge of promotion. The first European tour packages will be launched on February 25. China saw an estimated 97.3 million outbound tourists last year, up from the 83.18 million in 2012. Outbound Chinese tourists are known as the biggest spenders worldwide.
