New Volvo CEO

GEELY Automobile Holdings Ltd has appointed Stefan Jacoby as the new chief executive officer of Volvo Car Corp, according to media reports yesterday.

The Chinese auto maker made the first personnel reshuffle of Volvo after it bought the Swedish premier car brand for US$1.8 billion in March this year.

Stefan Jacoby, the former president of Volkswagen's US division, replaces Stephen Odell, who will lead Ford's European business.

Geely has been recruiting Volvo's management team. Kenneth Hsu, the former vice president of Ford Motor China, joined Volvo's Chinese team earlier this month.

The biggest privately owned Chinese auto producer is also contacting local governments to localize the production of Volvo cars in China.
