Probe on US' rescue plans for auto sector
CHINA announced it will investigate the United States government's financing and rescue plans for the American automotive industry, the Ministry of Commerce said yesterday.
It is part of China's probe into possible anti-dumping and government subsidies on US-made vehicle imports in China, the ministry said.
Yao Jian, spokesman of the ministry, said China's probe will look into 24 items which include the US government's rescue and restructuring plans for the automotive industry as well as government subsidies on new energy vehicles and its Cash-for-Clunkers incentive program.
The concerned US auto makers have the right to defend themselves by presenting evidence to Chinese investigators by registering within 20 days after China started the probe on November 6, Yao said.
