Record global car debuts

THE 15th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition will see a record number of global debuts, its organizer said yesterday.
Up to 111 cars will have their world premiere at the auto show, the Shanghai International Exhibition Co said. Over 1,300 vehicles, including 69 concept cars and 91 new-energy cars, will be at the show which starts next Saturday.
The show will spread more than 280,000 square meters at the Shanghai New International Expo Center in Pudong New Area, a 21.7 percent rise from the 2011 event.
Though growth in China's car sales is slowing, global carmakers still attach great importance to the biggest auto market in the world, said Wang Xia, chairman of the Automobile Industry Committee at the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.
