Rise in China鈥檚 2014 car sales not over 10%
CHINA’S car sales continued to rise in October but market growth this year would not be over 10 percent, said an industry expert.
Deliveries of passenger cars and commercial vehicles totaled 1.99 million units last month, up 2.8 percent from a year earlier and marked a slight acceleration from the 2.5 percent gain in September, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers said yesterday.
The total car sales in China so far this year rose 6.6 percent to nearly 19 million units but the rate for the whole year may hit only 7 percent, nearly half of last year’s 13.9 percent increase, said Dong Yang, secretary-general of the CAAM.
Domestic carmakers saw their share in the passenger car market rise for a third month in a row to 39.5 percent.
The total sales of passenger cars in China reached nearly 15.9 million units by October, according to the CAAM.
