Saab Eyes Tie-up After Pang Da Chief's Visit
SAAB Automobile hopes to secure a partnership with Pang Da Automobile Trade Co after the Chinese car dealer's chief visits Swedish government officials.
Pang Qinghua, Pang Da's chairman, was due to meet with Sweden's Industry Minister Maud Olofsson yesterday to discuss the company's investment in Saab's owner Spyker Cars NV, Saab spokesman Gunilla Gustavs said by telephone.
The visit to Stockholm is part of the companies' efforts to win approval for Pang Da's plan to pay 65 million euros (US$92 million) for a 24 percent stake in Netherlands-based Spyker, and to create distribution and car-making ventures in China, Gustavs said. Pang will travel to Saab's headquarters and factory in Trollhaettan today when the car maker plans to restart production.
