VW eyes used car market
VOLKSWAGEN AG, Europe's largest automaker, plans to officially launch its two-year-old pre-owned car brand Das WeltAuto in China next year to cash in on the country's booming used car market.
Following rising trade-in demand, China's used passenger car sales may match new vehicle deliveries in 2018 to reach 20 million units, according to the China Automobile Dealership Association.
To tap this potential, Volkswagen plans for 27 percent of its Chinese car dealerships to operate the Das WeltAuto business by the end of 2014, Tom Szutu, director of used car business of Volkswagen China, said yesterday.
