Vehicle sales boost
BEIQI Foton Motor Co yesterday said it expects first-half profit to jump 150 percent from a year earlier.
The car maker, the affiliate of Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co, didn't give specific numbers for the net income. It earned 453 million yuan (US$67 million) for the same period last year.
Beiqi Foton said profit was boosted after it sold 29.4 percent more vehicles during the first six months of this year, particular Auman heavy duty trucks, which reported a strong growth of 86 percent. It also attributed the bullish income to its efforts on product upgrade and cost reduction.
