Jaguar Land Rover sparkles with iconic design
Jaguar Land Rover, the UK premium car maker, has enjoyed rapid growth in China over the past five years, with a tenfold increase in the number of cars sold to over 120,000, and a similar expansion of its workforce now at 400.
At the Shanghai Auto Show, the British company reaffirmed its commitment to the Chinese market where it is running its first-ever overseas manufacturing facility in Changshu, which helps it generate long-term and sustainable growth.
“We will continue to serve the market with advanced technology, cutting-edge design, and unwavering commitment to customers,” said Bob Grace, Regional President of Jaguar Land Rover, Greater China. “The commitment will go all the way along our legendary journey in China.”
The “Jaguar Design and Advanced Technology Forum” at the auto show highlights the brand’s investment in technology and design over the past eight decades.
With the theme “Technology with Style & Soul,” the forum covers Jaguar design, its new XF product introduction, science of Aluminium, and in-car technology InControl Touch Pro.
Never stop achieving
“Jaguar is always pushing the boundaries of design and technology,” said Ian Callum, Jaguar Director of Design. “It is creating the most sophisticated cars with iconic British design for the modern gentleman.”
To celebrate its 80th anniversary, Jaguar launched XJL and XF Limited Edition to echo its dedication to innovative technology, seductive design and high performance.
The debut of the all-new Jaguar XF brought a blend of design, dynamics, technology and efficiency to lead the business car segment.
The model kept its predecessor’s core attributes but used Jaguar’s Intelligent Aluminium Architecture (IAA) to trim up to 190kg from its weight. Double wishbone front suspension and Integral Link rear suspension — combined with near 50:50 weight distribution — delivered the ideal balance between ride and handling.
Another eye-catching model is 16MY F-TYPE which broadened the range from 6 to 8 derivatives in China, while the AWD system extended the performance and capability on all road surfaces and in all conditions.
“All of these new Jaguar cars built from outstanding technology, design and performance are our tribute to Jaguar’s history and heritage in past 80 years,” said May Che, Executive Vice President of Jaguar China. “Out of a spirit of ‘Never Stop Achieving,’ we will continue to provide Chinese customers with heart-moving products.”
On the journey
always with customers
Land Rover, the world leader in premium SUVs with over 67 years’ heritage, celebrated Range Rover’s 45th anniversary, unveiling its 6 millionth vehicle at the Shanghai Auto Show — a Range Rover Long Wheel Base.
It revealed its new 15.5MY Range Rover Sport SVR, the fastest and the most powerful model that Land Rover has ever produced and the first to wear the SVR designation being adopted by future Land Rover and Jaguar high-performance models.
Meantime, the China built Range Rover Evoque was highlighted by the brand, in a nod to the local market.
“We are proud to uphold the ‘Customer First’ and ‘We’re Always With You’ philosophy, to bring world-class products and services to our Chinese customers,” said Grace of the company’s long-term commitment to China.
Deepening its roots here means making it more relatable. Adapting its product to the Chinese taste, such as long-wheel base for the preference for spaciousness, is just one side of Jaguar Land Rover’s local image.
Corporate social responsibility is an integral part of the company’s philosophy. Its latest CSR campaign, One Thousand and One Dreams, has just gone online at the Shanghai Auto Show, seeking public participation to make dreams come true for kids at two Jaguar Land Rover Hope Schools in earthquake-stricken areas in Ya’an, Sichuan and Zhaotong, Yunnan. As part of the “Jaguar Land Rover China Children & Youth Dream Fund” established since May 2014, the company has launched multiple programs in social care, sports in China to give back to the country that is now its biggest market.
