Mercedes sees growth

MERCEDES-BENZ continued its positive growth momentum in the first eight months of 2011, delivering nearly 123,590 units on the Chinese mainland. It represented 41 percent growth year on year.

In August, it sold more than 14,080 passenger vehicles, the German luxury car maker said.
Klaus Maier, president and CEO of Mercedes-Benz (China) Ltd, said he expects the favorable growth to continue during the second half of the year and the company is confident of reaching its sales target by year end.

More than 2,200 units of Mercedes-Benz's flagship luxury sedan, the S-Class, were sold in August in China, contributing to total sales of 20,825 units in the first eight months of the year, an increase of 48 percent from a year earlier. The E-Class posted robust growth of 287 percent in August compared to the same month last year.
