Mercedes-Benz earns customer trust with 19 awards in 2013

Coinciding with the Guangzhou auto show, 15 automotive publications and organizations have announced awards for the Mercedes-Benz new-generation S-Class, the new E-Class, and for Nicholas Speeks, President & CEO of Beijing Mercedes-Benz Sales Service Co (BMBS). The wins capped off a transitional year for Mercedes-Benz in China which saw the establishment of integrated sales company BMBS for the German automaker.

Mercedes-Benz won a total of 19 awards, with 13 of those going to the brand’s new-generation S-Class. Top Gear and Auto Bild, both renowned and internationally recognized automotive publications, designated the S-Class as their choice for luxury car of the year. The Chief Editor’s Club, comprised of editors from China’s top automotive publications, also chose the S-Class as the group’s first ever “Car of the Year.” The decision reaffirms the model’s stature and position in China, its top market worldwide where it’s often referred to as “the King.”

The new E-Class was also recognized, winning a total of three awards, two for “Best Business Car of the Year” from China Business News and Auto World respectively. The locally produced new E-Class is quickly gaining a reputation in China for quality and value, and is building momentum amongst the Chinese business community.

Additionally, China Business News and National Business Daily awarded Nicholas Speeks, President & CEO of BMBS, their “Person of the Year” and “CEO of the Year” award respectively. In the first year in his position, Speeks led the successful integration of MBCL and BBAC into BMBS, introduced a rapid network expansion, enhanced relationships with dealers and shaped an increasingly customer-orientated approach.

“I’m very humbled and honored to be recognized, and I accept these accolades on behalf of the brand and our talented team at BMBS,” said Speeks. “Mercedes-Benz makes the best cars in the world and I accept these awards as a spur, both for myself and my colleagues, to maintain and increase our efforts to be worthy of the trust and confidence our wonderful customers give us; an effort that is reflected in the public announcement provided today. They and others considering Mercedes-Benz as the car of their choice can be sure that we will be tireless in pursuit of that goal.”
