SVW ups sales target

SHANGHAI Volkswagen, the joint venture between the German carmaker and China's SAIC Motor, has recently raised its sales goal for this year to 1.5 million units from 1.42 million units, expecting a 17 percent increase from last year.
"We think the market will grow a little faster than last year, by 10 percent approximately," said Jia Mingdi, general manager of Shanghai SAIC-Volkswagen Sales Co.
In the past five months, Shanghai Volkswagen sold 650,000 units, up 22 percent from a year earlier.
