Shanghai Auto opens US office

SHANGHAI Automotive Industry Corp, China's largest automotive maker, recently opened its new North American Operations Center in Birmingham, Michigan, making a significant move to strengthen its business in the US.
The 30,000-square-foot building is designed to house about 100 employees. It will operate in three areas of the company's business in the US, including purchasing, logistics, and technology and engineering.
SAIC's US-based subsidiary was established in 1994 and its operating revenue reached US$160 million in 2011.
