Volkswagen, FAW plant

VOLKSWAGEN AG and its Chinese partner FAW Group has jointly invested 100 million yuan (US$15.63 million) to build a remanufacturing plant for power trains in China.

The Volkwagen FAW Engine (Dalian) Co Ltd will initially be able to regenerate 5,000 engines, which will grow to 15,000 units by 2014. The joint venture also said the remanufacturing of transmissions is being planned for the plant in the future.

It's the first time VW will remanufacture engines outside Germany. The first EA888 series of engines made by the plant will serve on VW Group's models including Audi Q5, VW Magotan, Golf and Tiguan, as well as Skoda Octavia.
