Programs ready students for global careers
INTERNATIONAL experience continues to be a crucial component of the modern business career. Today’s dynamic global business environment means more and more opportunities for those who are willing to broaden their horizons and seek international knowledge.
Internationally-focused MBA programs give students the global business knowledge crucial for successful careers around the world.
“Studying in an international environment leads to an international network, which will be a valuable asset for me,” says Chongro Lee, human resources manager at Bosch.
Chongro, from South Korea, is a student studying on the International MBA offered by International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU).
The professional development program, which is part-time for executives with more than nine years’ work experience, equips students with a globally recognized UK degree from the University of Liverpool as well as international hands-on experience.
The program is taught at IBSS and located in the Suzhou Industrial Park, home to more than 130 Fortune 500 companies within a community of some 5,000 Chinese and international enterprises. This makes the city one of the most vibrant centers of business activity worldwide.
Current student Mao Jianyuan, financial controller at DelStar Technologies (Suzhou) Co Ltd, believes the program, combined with Suzhou’s unique environment, is an excellent base for gaining international experience.
“We have many professors from different international backgrounds, which give this university an international view and a unique outlook from a business point of view,” he says.
Studying an MBA program gives students the opportunity to learn from and work with world-leading experts with their own extensive international experience.
The international faculty at IBSS employ international best practices in management education to bring studying to life and equip students with cutting-edge global business knowledge.
Roberto Donà, professor of practice and director of MBA programs at IBSS, has worked at universities in Italy, China and the US. He also has experience working in Russia, Bulgaria and Argentina.
“For me, having international experience is important because education, as like many other industries, has become more global,” he says.
“Having international experience allows faculty members to interact with different business environments, with different stakeholders and students. We are a truly international university, with a truly international business school and we believe we can make a strong contribution to the international development of China on its road to becoming to the leading economy in the world.”
MBA students at IBSS get the opportunity to develop their own global experience and have the chance to study at the University of Liverpool’s London campus, as well as IBSS partner universities in Toronto, Milan or Tel Aviv.
“IBSS is building a worldwide business school partner network so that our students can customize additional global experiences as part of their IBSS MBA program,” says Donà.
Nowhere is this global network more evident than on the school’s new full-time IBSS MBA program, due to start in September.
This world-class MBA degree immerses students with three years’ full-time work experience in the business practices of both China and the Western world.
China continues to dominate the international business environment and students with experience of the country’s cultural and business centers will be well placed to take advantage of the vast opportunities of China’s market.
Both the International MBA and MBA program at IBSS offer a strong focus on the fast growing Chinese market.
The IBSS MBA offers China-based business connections and an opportunity to study in the key commercial, political and cultural centers of Shanghai, Beijing and Xi’an.
“We aim to give students a life-changing international experience from the hub of China’s commercial and industrial powerhouse,” says Professor Sarah Dixon, dean at IBSS. “MBA graduates will possess exceptional knowledge of doing business in and with China.”
