Accountants and lawyers among the best paid

ACCOUNTANTS, lawyers and human resource managers were the best paid in Shanghai this summer, taking home an average monthly salary of 12,258 yuan (US$1977), recruitment portal Zhaopin.com said yesterday.
Intermediary service providers in the field of housing, overseas education and match-making agencies, were second, earning around 11,067 yuan, according to a summer survey results posted on the website.
“We can confirm the reputation of professional service providers (accountants, lawyers, and human resource managers) being tough but well paid,” the report said. “We also see that though intermediary jobs are far from the favorite among job seekers, the jobs are actually rewarding. Job seekers can find gems in unpopular positions.”
The survey found that the competition was most fierce for jobs in state-owned fields like fast moving consumer goods, aerospace, heavy equipment and energy sectors.
Financial positions in banks and securities took the last two places in the 10 best-paid job list with 7,276 yuan and 7,190 yuan, respectively.
Recruiter Hays said financial analysts, corporate banking relationship managers, and digital marketing experts will be the most sought after candidates in the third quarter.
“Recruitment activity is expected to increase this quarter as many banks are recruiting across various levels,” says Simon Lance, regional director of Hays in China. “We advise candidates to focus on securing a job with greater responsibility and regional exposure which will provide long-term benefits to their career, rather than solely focusing on financial rewards.”
