BASF finishes 3 projects
GERMAN chemical group BASF has completed three expansion projects for performance materials at its Pudong site in Shanghai to meet rising demand in China.
“More than 60 percent of China’s people will live in cities by 2020,” Albert Heuser, BASF’s country head in China, said yesterday at a press conference.
Among the three expansion projects, BASF more than doubled the capacity of its compounding plant for engineering plastics to over 100,000 tons per year, six months ahead of schedule — making it BASF’s biggest compounding plant in Asia.
BASF estimates the Asia-Pacific market for engineering plastics to grow 7 percent annually on average.
