GERMAN chemical group BASF yesterday became the first multinational company to open an online store on Alibaba to sell products to small and medium-sized enterprises.
“SMEs account for 99 percent of the total number of enterprises in China, and contribute 60 percent to the gross domestic product,” said Zheng Daqing, vice president of business and market development at BASF China.
