Big Mac's new mode
MCDONALD'S Corp has launched its developmental franchise business on the Chinese mainland as it seeks to accelerate development in the world's most populous market.
Kunming North Star Enterprise Co, based in southwest China's Yunnan Province, on Tuesday signed a developmental franchise agreement with McDonald's.
Ren Jianmei, vice president of North Star, said the company will take over McDonald's existing operations in Yunnan, including nine stores in Kunming, and is committed to build 20 new stores during the first five years of cooperation.
McDonald's said the business mode would help it expand quickly to 2,000 restaurants on the mainland by 2013.
McDonald's now has three business modes in China - the directly-owned store, the traditional franchised store and the developmental franchised store.
