Carrefour launches "Blue Line" service to cut waiting time at checkouts

TO improve Chinese customers’ shopping experience, French retailer Carrefour has started a “Blue Line” service to reduce customers’ waiting time at the checkout.

The service, which began from March 15, covers more than 50 Carrefour outlets in East China.

The blue lines appear on the floor in front of the checkouts at the supermarket, which marks a maximum waiting time. As long as there is a customer behind the line, the supermarket staff will direct him or her to another checkout counter, or open a new one.
