Chinese spend most time on screen devices, survey shows
Chinese people spend an average 8 hours every day on screens including mobile phones, tablets, laptops, and TV, the most in the world, a survey said.
Mobile phones are the primary screen device on which Chinese people spend 3 hours on average every day, market research firm Millward Brown found in a survey.
The survey covered 12,000 respondents in 30 major countries and found average daily use of screens is 7 hours globally.
“China continues to sophisticate at break-neck speeds, punctuated by the ever-changing media consumption landscape,” said Chris Maier, head of Millward Brown China’s Media and Digital Practice. “It really comes as no surprise that we in China utilize multi-screens more than anywhere else in the world.”
The report found one third respondents in China said they tend to use more than one screen device simultaneously.
Those who use mobile phones or tablets while watching TV cite time-killing during advertisement breaks, keeping up with friends on social media, and boring TV programs as top reasons to use devices simultaneously.
