Coca-Cola identifies affected batch of Pineapple Pulpy Milky
Coca-Cola Co said yesterday that it’s recalling a batch of Pineapple Pulpy Milky using bacteria-affected Fonterra whey protein from three provinces in China and stressed the products are safe for consumption after ultra-high temperature treatment.
Coca-Cola is recalling Pineapple Pulpy Milky with a March 5, 2013 production date from Yunnan Province (3,273 cases), Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (788 cases) and Guangdong Province (14,967 cases), according to the statement.
“Product quality and safety are always our top priorities,” Coca-Cola said in the statement. “Following further tracing and recall efforts, we can confirm that use of the 25 kilograms of the affected Fonterra whey protein was limited to only one batch of Minute Maid Pineapple Pulpy Milky, produced on March 5, 2013, at our Dongguan plant.” The products were distributed only in the three provinces, according to the statement.
“These products are safe for consumption due to the ultra-high temperature manufacturing process we use, and also the low acidity, which sanitizes the final products,” the statement said.
“In order to fully reassure consumers, we are cooperating with the government and actively recalling products from this single batch. We confirm again that all Coca-Cola products in China are safe for consumption,” it said.
