Fonterra opens new application center in Shanghai

New Zealand's largest dairy exporter Fonterra yesterday unveiled an application center in Shanghai as it taps the growing demand from local catering businesses and dining companies.
The Shanghai Application Center will provide one-stop solutions for dining companies and bakeries as Chinese companies are diversifying their products and shifting toward high value-added deserts that use high-end raw material.
Covering a floor area of about 700 square meters, the application center is responsible of analyzing and testing new product recipe as well as working out a scalable manufacturing process.
Fonterra has been working with bakery chains and restaurants across the country as they're seeking more value-added products by using more high-end dairy raw material.
Its catering business now covers 27 cities in the country and the local team will also work with Fonterra's research and development facilities in New Zealand to bring the latest dairy products and recipes to Chinese consumers.
