Hotel group aims to triple Pullman presence in China
INTERNATIONAL hotel group Accor SA said yesterday it is to at least triple its Pullman portfolio in China over the next three years to grow with the country's robust travel market.
Seven properties under the Pullman brand, designed for business travelers and positioned as affordable five-star hotels, are currently operating in China while another 14 hotels are in the pipeline, a senior executive with the company said.
"The Pullman brand has been Accor's fastest growing upscale brand in China and I expect it to continue its strong growth momentum over the coming years," said Robert Murray, senior vice president of Accor China.
"Demand from Chinese property developers and hotel owners for international five-star hotel brands, particularly in the mid and upscale segment, remains robust in second and third-tier cities."
The newest hotels added to Pullman's China network include the 482-room Pullman Zhangjiajie in Hunan Province which opened earlier this month and the 280-room Pullman Dongguan Dalang in Guangdong Province, due to open in 2012, the company said.
At present, Accor runs 94 hotels in 42 Chinese cities.
