InterContinental Hotels Group and Shanghai Expo Co yesterday signed a management contract for the InterContinental Shanghai National Exhibition and Convention Center.
An integral part of the NECC — the world’s largest exhibition center — will be a 543-room hotel, which is scheduled to open in the second half of next year. If it does, it will be InterContinental’s fifth hotel in Shanghai.
The group currently operates 36 hotels — under a range of brand names — in the city, and said it has set a target to open 10 more over the next three to five years.
