Jahwa’s ex-GM wins appeal to get job back
SHANGHAI Jahwa United Co was ordered by the Hongkou District People’s Court yesterday to resume the labor contract with former General Manager Wang Zhuo.
Wang was sacked in June last year, but argued he didn’t violate company rules and was not guilty of dereliction of duty.
The court ruled yesterday that the state-backed personal care company did not provide sufficient reason to dismiss Wang. It also ruled that the company should pay Wang an overdue salary of 42,355.17 yuan (US$6,825) from June 1 to June 24, last year, within three days of receiving the court order.
Wang first took his dispute with the company’s major shareholder to the Hongkou District Labor Arbitration Committee in Shanghai in June, arguing that his sacking was due to a “deliberate revenge.”
Wang was sacked after a long-standing boardroom conflict between the management team and Jahwa’s major shareholder Ping An Insurance.
