M&S to launch outlets in Guangzhou, Beijing
BRITISH retail giant Marks & Spencer will debut in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province, and Beijing with wholly-owned flagship stores, while deepening cooperation with online shopping platforms as part of its transformation in China.
It will close some outlets in Shanghai's surrounding areas and will also seek local partners to expand in China, the company said in a statement yesterday.
Two M&S Shanghai stores on Huaihai Road M. and Nanjing Road W. will stay open, it hinted.
M&S said it will continue to offer a whole selection of goods through its outlets on Tmall.com to enhance brand recognition and appeal to consumers.
The company now operates 15 wholly-owned stores on the Chinese mainland with seven outlets in Shanghai and five in the Yangtze River Delta region.
