McDonald's gains
MCDONALD'S fourth-quarter net income rose 2 percent as it brought in more customers with its McRib sandwich and an addition to its successful McCafe coffee lineup.
But a key United States sales metric posted a smaller increase than the third quarter, and the firm cautioned food costs may rise this year.
The world's biggest hamburger chain has kept sales growing as competitors have struggled.
McDonald's earned US$1.24 billion for the three months ended December 31, up from US$1.22 billion a year earlier.
