More nutritious
SHANGHAI Bright Dairy and Food Co has plans to introduce more value-added products because demand for dairy products is more diversified.
The nation's third-largest dairy group yesterday launched a new generation of its Refresh yogurt beverages developed by its own research and development center in Shanghai, said Vice President Liang Yongping.
Bright Dairy's sales revenue has doubled over the past three years and the Refresh yogurt series has contributed greatly, Liang said.
Net profit of the Shanghai-based firm soared over 190 percent from a year earlier to 25.1 million yuan (US$3.69 million) in the first quarter, with sales of its milk powder and Ultra High Temperature milks growing rapidly.
A recent research report from Rabobank showed China's dairy consumption will continue to grow strongly in the next five to 10 years with more room for value-added products such as yogurt and cheese products.
