No decision on change to stores' name
PACIFIC Department Store Co has not decided whether to rename three Shanghai outlets as Far East department store after logos are set to change elsewhere on Chinese mainland, according to a media report.
Taiwan-based Far East Group, owner of seven Pacific department stores in China, earlier said it will rename three Pacific department stores in Chongqing and Chengdu late this month to facilitate business operation.
An unidentified official of the Shanghai unit of Pacific Department Store Co told Shanghai Business Daily yesterday that the Shanghai branch has not been informed about changing its name.
"Pacific department stores are well known in Shanghai and the board has not decided whether their names will be changed," the newspaper quoted the official as saying.
Of the three Pacific department stores in Shanghai, the oldest opened in 1993.
