Online retailer teams up with alcohol vendor

SHANGHAI-BASED online retailer Yihaodian said yesterday it has teamed up with liquor vendor Jiuxian.com to expand its product offerings and appeal to more online buyers.
Yihaodian, in which US retailer Wal-Mart holds a controlling stake, hopes to become a comprehensive online shopping site by introducing vendors with products that it doesn't already sell.
It will charge independent vendors commissions on each order buyers place and it is adding hundreds of vendors each month.
Last year, its sales more than tripled to 2.72 billion yuan (US$43.2 million) and later this year, Yihaodian hopes to add books and imported foods.
The number of products sold at Yihaodian will rise to 700,000 or even 1 million from the current 270,000, the company said.
