Private Label Fair draws 220 exhibitors

THE annual Private Label Fair will be held at the ShanghaiMart from next Wednesday to Friday, organizers said.
More than 220 exhibitors from 19 countries will participate, including the United States, Germany, France, Denmark, Italy and Turkey.
Foreign exhibitors have rented 25 percent of the show booths.
Private label products are those branded with a retailer's name, mostly the names of supermarkets and hypermarkets.
For new market players, private labels can save marketing and distribution costs and help them bypass tedious procedures for selling brand-less products at big retailers.
The practice of private label has a history of more than 20 years in developed markets where retailers try to differentiate themselves from competitors to make more profits.
In the United States or Europe, private label products account for more than a third of retailers' total stock. In China, it is only 5 percent, according to the Shanghai Commission of Commerce.
