Purifier makers eye sales in pollution
MORE than 70 domestic and overseas air purifier makers are taking part in the 2015 Ecotech China Exhibition in Shanghai as they seek sales in China because air pollution remains a major concern in the world’s second-largest economy.
Shanghai-based Airproce Co unveiled two models equipped with remote control functions and a monitoring system capable of measuring the average density of PM2.5 in the air.
Alikes Technology Development Co, a Beijing-based water purification system provider, showed its air purifier installed into a music stereo system.
Foreign brands, meanwhile, target institutional customers with high-end models.
Swiss-based HealthPro China, IQAir Group's acting partner in the country, launched wall-mounted premium purifier CleanZone SL to corporate users, while Japan’s Fujitsu General Co is promoting models whose filtering net does not need to be changed for 10 years.
The companies are taking part in the three-day show, which started at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) yesterday.
Last year, a total of 3.2 million air purifiers worth 7 billion yuan (US$1.1 billion) were sold in China, up 80 percent from a year earlier, according to market researcher GfK Group. The German-based research company predicted this year’s sales will grow by double digits to 9 billion yuan.
Oliver Moore, a Shanghai-based general manager at HealthPro China, told Shanghai Daily that sales of purifier systems are growing fast in southern China to what “have been seen in Beijing five years ago.”
