Sailing in to tap promising waters
EXHIBITORS, who quit last year's China International Boat Show, and several new comers will sail to the event this year as they seek to tap the country's burgeoning boat and yacht market, organizers said yesterday.
The 15th China International Boat Show, the largest of its kind in Asia, will be held from April 8 to 16 at the Shanghai Exhibition Center.
More than 200 boats and yachts will be displayed at the event, with boat and yacht makers making up about half of the over 400 overseas and domestic exhibitors and suppliers of maritime equipment, accessories and relevant services making up the rest.
The industry's top three yacht builders - Ferretti, Azimut-Benetti and Beneteau - are expected to berth at the event this year. Nearly 20 percent of the exhibitors this year will make their debut at the show.
The number of exhibitors fell by 10 percent last year due to the global financial crisis.
But companies, including Australian luxury yacht brand owner Riviera and the UK's biggest yacht builder Fairline which did not take part in the show last year, will return with their latest boats and technologies this year.
