Shanghai seeks to host massive exhibitions
SHANGHAI aims to host exhibitions that take up to 300,000 square meters of space regularly this year as the city continues to improve exhibition infrastructure, officials said at a media conference yesterday.
In order to meet this massive task, the city will raise its capacity on transport and services to boost its exhibition industry which is supported by massive sites such as the newly built National Exhibition and Convention Center, said Chen Xianjin, head of Shanghai Convention and Exhibition Industries Association.
Chen also said the Shanghai Commission of Commerce is looking to protect the intellectual property rights of some local exhibitions.
The development of the exhibition industry is vital to Shanghai’s aim of becoming a global science and innovation center as laid out in the city’s 13th Five-Year (2016-2020) Plan.
