Spending on retail soars 18.7%
CHINA'S retail sales of consumer goods grew 18.7 percent in November year on year to 1.39 trillion yuan (US$208.1 billion), the National Bureau of Statistics said on Saturday.
The growth rate was 0.1 percentage point higher than that in October, bureau spokesman Sheng Laiyun said at a press conference.
Retail sales of consumer goods between January and November hit 13.92 trillion yuan, up 18.4 percent from the same period last year.
The growth rate over the 11 months was 0.1 percentage point higher than in between January and October.
The bureau said urban consumption hit 1.2 trillion yuan in November, up an annual 19 percent.
Rural residents spent 186.5 billion yuan on consumption in November, up 17 percent annually.
