Suning enlarges catalogue to boost revenue
CHINA'S largest home appliances retailer Suning said it will open three Laox Life stores in Shanghai, Tianjin and Xiamen by the end of this year to expand its revenue stream by relying less on sales of consumer electronics.
The first Laox Life store in Shanghai opened in May this year to sell imported and high-end products including furniture and toys.
The opening of more Laox shops is slower than expected though, as the retailer focused on its online shopping unit in the past few months.
Fan Zhijun, Suning Shanghai general manager, said its offline stores will improve customer service while its online store will continue to expand its product category.
Suning also plans to open "super stores" next year to include general merchandise while upgrading existing ones for better consumer experience.
