Tesco aims to grow
TESCO China said it plans to open more than 20 stores in China during the rest of this year, mainly along the eastern coast.
The retailer is also planning to start selling clothing and baby products online from September, and start home delivery of groceries in and around Shanghai early next year, said Tim Ashdown, CEO of Tesco China.
The company's first freehold distribution center was opened in Zhejiang Province's Jiashan to support its expansion in China.
