UK agency allows TCM product
PHYNOVA, an innovative life science company based in Oxford, said yesterday in Shanghai that it has got the first market approval for a traditional Chinese medicine from the UK’s Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency for its Joint and Muscle Relief Tablets.
This approval marks the first time the European Union’s Traditional Herbal Medicinal Product Directive, launched in April 2004, has been successfully used to register a TCM product within the UK.
Robert Miller, CEO of Phynova, said: “I am also happy to announce that in collaboration with Xiangxue Pharmaceuticals in Guangzhou, we will be submitting our second application for a THR (Traditional Herbal Registration) cold and flu remedy derived from Ban Lan Gen this April.”
