US cleaning products maker celebrates 20 years of Shanghai environmental education fund

US-based household cleaning products maker SC Johnson celebrated the 20th anniversary of its Teenage Environmental Education Fund in Shanghai as a part of its commitment to raise environmental awareness.

The company said it will continue to carry out a "green list" mechanism to audit local suppliers for their sustainable practices and cut energy consumption through a series of internal manufacturing and supply chain procedures.

Last year SC Johnson opened its first entomology research center outside the US in Shanghai to tap China's demand for new products and help improve local pesticide standards. Christopher Moeller, the general manager of SC Johnson China, told a media briefing yesterday that it's working to get the lab registered with government authorities before carrying out further product research and development.

The education fund was co-launched with the Middle and Primary School Office of the Shanghai Environmental Educational Coordination Committee, with more than 80,000 students participating in environmental education programs each year.
