Using AI to get food in 30 minutes
FOOD delivery website Ele.me has set up an artificial intelligence team of 30 engineers seeking to optimize delivery routes to ensure food is delivered within 30 minutes, the Shanghai-based startup said yesterday.
The engineers at Ele.me, which delivers 5 million orders daily to over 70 million users, mainly come from top firms like Tencent, Alibaba and some Silicon Valley firms. The number will rise to 50 in the future.
The team will seek to cut the average delivery time to shorter than 30 minutes from 34 minutes now and boost the accuracy rate to 98 percent from 95 percent now. If the delivery time exceeds the 30-minute target, the website will offer users coupons, said Zhang Xuhao, CEO and founder of Ele.me.
