Bernanke Rules Out Aid For Europe

Ben Bernanke, chairman of the US Federal Reserve, has given assurances it does not intend to bail out Europe from its debt crisis, according to participants at his meeting with Republican senators on Wednesday.
Senator Lindsey Graham said Bernanke told the group he did not "have the intention or the authority" to provide bailout support to Europe.
Senator Bob Corker said Bernanke had offered this assurance "multiple times" during the closed-door meeting.
Lawmakers from both parties have expressed sharp opposition to US support for Europe that might put taxpayer money at risk.
