China's trade rebounds sharply in July
CHINA'S trade rebounded strongly in July, partly due to a lower comparative base, officials said today.
Exports rose 5.1 percent from a year earlier to US$185.9 billion last month, reversing a drop of 3.1 percent in June, the General Administration of Customs said.
Imports jumped 10.9 percent to US$168.1 billion, also returning from the decrease of 0.7 percent a month earlier.
It landed the trade surplus at US$17.8 billion.
Lu Zhengwei, chief economist at Industrial Bank, said earlier this week that a rebound in trade was expected because of the much lower comparative base.
In July last year, China's trade grew at the slowest pace in 11 years on a monthly basis, Lu said.
