Customs takes measures to stabilize China鈥檚 trade
CHINA’S customs will adopt measures including cutting red tape and combating smuggling aggressively as it bids to stabilize trade.
The General Administration of Customs said yesterday that it will also improve work efficiency, streamline trade procedures and support intellectual property protection.
It will digitize its procedures to make it convenient for traders to choose the venue to complete paperwork which they previously had to submit personally to the customs.
The customs will also help the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone implement reforms in areas of clearance, supervision and tax collection.
Lu Zhengwei, chief economist at the Industrial Bank, said the customs will play a prominent role as China develops the New Silk Road, Yangtze Golden Waterway and high-speed train network connecting China and Europe to grow trade with new partners.
The State Council released a document last week that encouraged the central bank, the Ministry of Commerce and the customs to work together to stabilize trade.
