Duties set on US and EU pipe imports

THE Ministry of Commerce will levy anti-dumping duties on some alloy-steel seamless pipes imported from the European Union and the United States from today.

The imported pipes, designed for high temperatures and pressure, have damaged Chinese producers, the ministry said yesterday.

Companies which import such products will pay customs anti-dumping duties ranging from 13 percent to 14.1 percent, the ministry said.

The ruling came after a one-year probe launched on May 10, last year.

The pipes from Japan were also involved in the probe, but no anti-dumping measures will be levied on them due to the small amount, the ministry said.
