Ecuador hopes to enhance trade with China through more cocoa and seafood exports

ECUADOR hopes to enhance its trade with China through more exports of cocoa products and seafood, said Jorge H Hidalgo G, consul general of the Republic of Ecuador in Shanghai.
"We find potential here for more consumption of cocoa products and seafood," Hidalgo said last night at a conference. "We would like to introduce such products to China, either from direct sales or finding local partners."
Starting today, Ecuadorian companies including Universa Sweets, Terrafertil, Mayta, Caoni, Asialatam, Ecokakao, La Toscana, Indarbio and Pesmarpac will exhibit their products, such as chocolates, fruit, candy and seafood, at the three-day FHC China, a global fair of food and hospitality products in Shanghai.
Last year, Ecuador's gross domestic product expanded 7.8 percent from a year earlier, ranking it as the third fastest-growing country in Latin America behind Panama and Argentina.
