Education, health care resources to be distributed more equally

China's education and health care resources will be distributed more equally to make it fairer for rural residents, Premier Li Keqiang said today in Beijing.

He pledged another 10 percent increase in funding to help students from poor rural areas enroll in key universities. Li also said the country should send more qualified teachers to such areas.

Private investors will be encouraged to invest in schools, and every child should get equal opportunities to succeed, Li said.

Health care reform will continue to deepen with about 500 million farmers likely receiving medical insurance.
